Renée Rudebrant

I am an artist and designer with textile expressions as basis. I work with abstract art.

I am known for my minimalistic color scheme. I often work with my very special textile-collage technique in the form of different parts in black and white. It leads to a look that is tangible and abstract at the same time. It also is my way of orchestrating textures and structures so they create depth, tension and a profound narrative interaction.

I, Renée Rudebrant am an artist, designer and poet. Needle and thread are my tools for expressing my poetry. From the very beginning of my artistry the unique characteristics of textiles attracted me the most. There is a strong sensuality

and tactile feel in the textile material, for me that adds an additional dimension to the artistic approach.

I am educated in textile art, have a certification as textile teacher and a master in embroidery art. For over 40 years I have been active as an artist and designer. I have published two books and participated in many exhibitions nationally and internationally. Please find more information on my website, www.byrenee.se. I live northeast of Stockholm in Norrtälje.

My creations are known for their minimalist color scheme and their distinctive graphical forms. I often work with my special textile-collage technique using different pieces in black and white. This leads to a look that is tangible and abstract at the same time. It is also my way of orchestrating textures and structures to create depth, tension and a profound narrative interaction within my workpieces.

For me, poetry is about describing a mood or an emotion. As a viewer, I want you to have an experience and get a feeling created by an unusual form of language – one without words. What triggers my desire to create something can for example be a fragrance, special beats within a piece of music, a feeling, a mood or things in my surrounding. It is the simple things that appeal to me.

With my form of collage technique, I often build bridges between traditional and modern embroidery techniques. There is a particular sensitivity for materials and skill in using textile techniques. This applies regardless of whether I embroider one of my classic cross-stitch pieces in black and white or I work with abstract shapes and my own form of textile collage.
